Another glorious day at this manmade jewel. "Extreme" temperatures in Florida this time around – 27°F (-2°C) didn’t keep
me from going, especially since I knew it would get up to the low 70′s (24C) later in the day.
When I arrived at 6:30 am I had the place all for myself. Wonderfully quiet and after positioning myself in one of the most
active spots I waited for first light. And boy – did it show….

And then things happen pretty fast. Sun rises – Swarms of Boat Tailed Grackles heading out after roosting…

Swarms of Tree Swallows coming in

Hooded Meergansers, Blue-winged Teal, Coots, Moorhens – all come out to play.

More to come….

Wonderful waterfowl photos, I can’t wait until we have open water again but that’s a few months away.

What fun! So worth getting up for.
P.S. No, don’t worry, I’m not “going native” down here in Bondi. I am anxious to return to Jerusalem, winter cold and all.

Klaus – you left a comment on my blog last week, and I wondered if you might be coming to the Space Coast Birding & Wildlife Festival. This being a small world after all, I was in Birdchick’s Blogging lecture at the Festival, and she mentioned that somebody named Klaus had recognized her at the Viera Wetlands. I told her about your site and sent her the link. Hope you had a good time on your visit. marge
A wonderful morning shoot. Super Images.
