Luna Moth
laying eggs. Yet another species that is endangered.

Oh my goodness! I can’t believe you not only got this simply wonderful shot of the Luna on that great background color (they look so nice together – the gray and the green) BUT you capture the egg laying! Wow! Wow! Wow!
How ’bout those 125,000 gorillas that were just discovered? You just never know, do you?

I’ve always wanted to see one of these, but I don’t think I have. Definitely not in my adult life for sure. Amazing picture of laying eggs.

These moths are so pretty. Not too sure why they aren’t considered butterflies. I saw one of these Friday night when we got back from Cleveland. It was flying around inside the factory where Chuck had to make his drop off.

While I’m not an Entomologist – as far as I understand it – Butterflies are technically a Moth subfamily. The distinction Butterfly/Moth derives from their general behavior – Moths are night creatures – Butterflies are active during the day.
Wow, what a beautiful little thing that is and the color!! Then to top it off you actually caught it laying eggs. Do you know you’re the first site I check when I get online just to see what amazing thing you’ve posted next?

Excellent picture… whenever I see one of these it reminds me Dr Dolittle. He rode home to Puddleby-on-the-Marsh, on a giant luna moth.
Klaus: That is one beautiful moth, ours are all the plain brown type and my wife is scared to death of any flyers. Warning to all moths, stay out of my house.
Nice photo. I always see luna moth wings on the ground under the street lamp, I guess they make a good meal for the bats.

Love how the green color of the moth contrasts against this tree. Sad to hear it’s endangered (like so many other things these days unfortunately. Too much lost of natural habitat for our animal friends.)
