Picture of the Day - August 1st, 2008

American Crocodile View definition in a new window. These guys are, though sharing the same waters, very different from Gators - not only optically. They are very aggressive and will go after you, if you’re in a promising spot. But they are also endangered - about 2000-3000 left in Florida.

10 Nods! Why not add you two cents? to “ Picture of the Day - August 1st, 2008 ”

OK, so now y0u’re scaring me again…when out in the wild there’s no guarantee that you won’t run into the likes of this guy vs the “mild mannered” alligator. I know I can tell from the shape of their snoot, but by then I’ll be at risk! :-) Great shot by the way. Reflection is sublime…and I love how still the water is inside his mouth.

The reflection in the water makes this guy appear as a triple threat! A wonderful picture!

The water looks like glass - nice shot! (Can’t say I personally like the subject - but have to give kudos to the photo itself.) :-)

Hey Klaus, this is wonderful, but I haven’t seen anything here that isn’t. My husband and I are thinking about taking a trip to Florida this winter to stay with some friends that own some land down there… I sure hope I will get to see some of these if we come… thank Klaus.

Guess if I ever visit those parts I’ll need to learn the difference if this one would attack. AWESOME photo. The reflection is spectacular!
