This Site is getting smart!

Sort of - at least. And not all at once - more step by step. When I started the Photography Basic series, I was thinking, that it would be pretty neat, to provide understandable information to terms, whenever needed.

So aside from explaining them in the tutorials, I thought of having some sort of a glossary, that would be an added info next to a term used.

First step was checking the available Wordpress database, which turned up nothing. And then after a more extensive search I found an old, unsupported plug in, that did what I needed. So I re-vamped it, updated it to be used in Wordpress 2.5 ( the original was written in 2005) and bent it to my needs, throwing out obnoxious marketing messages and pleas for donations. And once I got that working, I immediately thought of other use - why not extend it to a knowledgebase for animals and plants I shoot? I always wanted some reference for my own use. So I ended up with 3 glossaries.

Below you can see, what I got so far. To make it easy to distinguish the topic - the symbols indicating that there is an explanation available are of different type: a camera for Photography, a blue Paw for Animals and a green leaf for Plants. And to not let the whole thing go overboard - even if a term appears a dozen times on a page - only the first mention will have the explanation attached!

But bear with me - it’ll be quite a while, until everything is entered into the database. For suggestions and questions (and of course corrections of my inevitable mess-up’s) I will be grateful! Cheers, Klaus
