Clueless Saturday - 23
Here we go for the 2nd Edition of Clueless Saturday! But first - the solutions for the first two “Riddles”.
The 1st image was the plumage of a Great White Egret
, the 2nd Wasn’t solved, though I found out myself.
It was Caesarweed.
Here are the rules:
Pretty simple. Your image post should be one of two things.
1. Either an animal, bug, plant, tree or whatever you have in store, that you would like to be identified.
(Maybe one of the visitors can figure it out…)
2. An unusual take on a subject, that leaves the viewer guessing on what it is.
3. And check out what other participants are showing! The more people look, the more
riddles can be solved and the chances of someone identifying an unknown animal, bird
or plant will rise!
And in your next post you let us know if someone figured it out! That’s all there is…
And if you do want to “riddle” away, put your URL in - so others can check it out.
And leave a comment, too!
What am I? [ Solved by Bruce - it is Spanish Moss
]
Have fun!

Like Sandpiper, who has lived where I live now, I too know what this is as we see it everywhere here. Maybe that will be a clue to others. Or I can give the answer if you are ready for it.

Klaus says I should go ahead and guess. I’m pretty sure it’s Spanish moss, tillandsia usneoides, which grows abundantly all over the South Carolina Lowcountry where I live. He tried to trick us by showing it sideways instead of hanging down like it usually does. It’s an epiphyte, not a parasite, so it doesn’t harm the trees, except the weight sometimes. It gets all it’s nourishment from the minerals and moisture in the air.

Cool! I knew what it was because I had two Live Oaks in my front yard in Charleston that were covered with it.
