What am I ? [SOLVED BY SANDPIPER]
What kind of plant am I? This seems to be a solitary plant, about 2-3 ft off the ground and has a diameter of about 1 1/2 inch. They grow in proximity to bodies of water. Sandy soil. Pine Trees, Life Oaks and Cypress nearby. [UNSOLVED]

WOW, you sure have shown off the Egrets’ feathers to their best advantage on your blog! Huge guess what flower that might be is an extra tall growing type of African Violet. I said ‘huge’ guess HAHA

I had scrolled down to your other pictures (which are great by the way) so I saw the snowy egret and knew this was a close up. I wasn’t beaten to the punch even so. I don’t know the flower, however.

Hi Lin – you got the 1st one right! The picture shows the mating plume of a Great White Egret. June was close though.
For the plant – I did an intensive image search, though I won’t exclude it – but it seems that it isn’t a Mallow species. Similarities are there – but Mallows seem to be generally larger with longer, thinner pistils and bigger stamen.
The first one could be the feathers of a Great (White) Egret. I don’t know about the plant. Maybe some kind of mallow?

Well June – They are not Snowy Egrets feathers!
Well, I’ve got the first: snowy egret feathers. Don’t know the plant though. I’ll try to put something up tomorrow
