When on my way to the lake I was greeted by the heavy, almost perfume like scent of the nearby
Pinewoods. It’s intoxicating – at least for me that is. It wipes away your day to day worries and
stress in an instant and you’re relaxed the moment you breath it in.And from then on it only got
better. First thing that popped into my eyes was a whole group of Pale Meadow Beauties, one
of the most beautiful wildflowers out here – and they carry their name deservingly.
As I said before – the area was brimming with life. Grasshoppers, Dragonflies (I counted 8 different
species), Wasps, Bees, Flies, Butterflies, a few Damselflies (not their time quite yet) and lots of
songbirds all around me, and the always present Vultures (Black and Turkey) above and the
occasional Osprey
circling. Add to it the beauty of the ancient cypress trees, mix in the surreal
water and you get the idea of a wonderful day.
Part III tonite or tomorrow!

Pretty neat how you can put in a slide show…hard to pick which is my favorite.

Beautiful pictures, as always, Klaus! I’m no help with identifying the unnamed ones, but they sure are pretty. Great slideshow!

Lovely photos, all of them. I especially like the lizard and partially-open thistle photos.
