Walk with me - Part I

2 Categories: Photo-Journal •April 22, 2008

This had to be the most beautiful day of the year. Dark blue sky - warm and not too hot
and not windy for a change, which made me go to Lake Louisa. A fairly large lake, tinted like
black tea by the myriads of pine needles, given it quite an unusual appearance.

As to expected on a Tuesday morning I was basically alone when I got there. I made my way
up the north shore - which is as much interesting as it is disconcerting. Interesting for it

is new land - not much people ever walked there - so Flora and Fauna are at it’s best and the
whole area is brimming of life. Disconcerting - because the water level has dropped that much.
I estimate 10 ft (3m) over the last 3 years - a direct result of unfeathered building and population
increase in Central Florida.

The Panorama I took here was taking from a spot a good 100 feet from the shoreline - and you can
spot how much the water level has dropped.

This looks like a beautiful place. It really is a shame how overly built Florida has become, and really so much of the east coast. Connecticut is another overly developed state, but the growth continues. I’m glad you find so many wonderful places like this to photograph and that your wildlife remains abundant.

Cool panorama! That’s very interesting that pine needles have dyed the water that color, and unfortunate that there’s so much development as to lower the lake level that much.
